Undang-undang menetapkan; ‘Perjanjian melalui taruhan tidak berlaku, tidak gugatan harus diajukan untuk memulihkan apa pun yang diduga dimenangkan pada taruhan apa pun atau dipercayakan kepada siapa saja untuk mematuhi konsekuensi permainan apa pun atau peristiwa tidak pasti lainnya yang taruhan apa pun dibuat’. Perjudian, lotere, dan permainan hadiah telah dianggap sebagai kontrak taruhan dan karenanya batal dan tidak dapat diterapkan.
